Trees at Linwood Park

Long time since I've been in Linwood Park which is on the eastern edge of Lake Forest Park, actually it's a Kenmore Park so it must be outside the city limits. Quiet neighborhood park with some woods at the back. And lots of multi-trunk trees in interesting shapes

Disc Golf in Mountlake Terrace

There's a frisbee golf course in the woods of Mountlake Terrace. Couldn't tell what the little installations were and they were pretty run down and rusty. Lady at the pool says they are in constant use and she's right. Here's a patron and his buddies using the course this very afternoon

Annuals at Sky Nursery

The annuals are available through Lake Forest Park and Shoreline. Sky Nursery is the biggest nursery in the area and they have a beautiful display. I bought some!

Yarn Shop

Some of the yarn available in the Village Yarn and Tea Shop on ballinger Way just outside of Lake Forest Park. Looks like a fun place. Reminds me of how my mother used to go to the yarn shop to sit and knit with her buddies.

Wilderness in Yost Park

I returned to Yost Park in Edmonds to find a letterbox. You can hardly believe you are in the middle of populated area down in there. Two sentinels, big trees of the past

NE 175th and I-5

The freeway interchange just south of Lake Forest Park. If you head east here on NE 175th, you run into part of the Lake Forest Park city limits. The sign indicates that norrthbound takes you towards "Vancouver BC". Taken from Ronald Bog park in Shoreline. The pine cone was a surprise element. I love it when you find something extra in your picture.

Even though it's April 18, it's snowing (pretty hard) in Seattle/Lake Forest Park tonight. This scene, taken in Shoreline around 6:45pm

Tall trees

Tall trees in Yost Park in nearby Edmonds. Never been to this park before but quiet and calm. I found a letterbox off in the woods here above the tennis courts

Shoreline Community College

Shoreline Community College has a small center at Lake Forest Park Mall. They teach somelimited classes. Great to have this facility right nearby

Backyard campfire

I enjoyed a spring backyard campfire in a portable fireplace with my neighborhood last Saturday night, the day that was so warm. Probably illegal.

Camelias

The Camellias are blooming in Lake Forest Park. This from the bush in my front yard

Twin Ponds

A small bridge in the back portion of Twin Ponds Park in Shoreline. Yes, there are two ponds in this park with a trail in between them. This particular trail ran in back of the back little lake. A challenge for myself and my elderly dog to cross. But we made it!

Cycling on the Burke Gilman Trail

Cycling is very popular on the Burke Gilman trail that runs close to Lake Washington from the University District out past Woodinville on former rail right of way. The trail runs through Lake Forest Park paralelling Bothell Way.

Great purple bush

I have to admit that I stopped the car, got out and took a picture of this bush because it was a great flowering bush. Things you can do when you don't have kids in your car. You can stop and visit a bush just because you WANT to. Nice purple asalea in full bloom. In Edmonds near Stevens Hosptial.

Metro King County bus lines

A kiosk at the Lake Forest Park mall showing the bus lines. Lake Forest Park is in the gray area to the left and slightly above Lake Washington. The bus service is not very good around here. You have to walk a mile from my house to get the bus. Only exception is a bus line that goes directly downtown that only is inbound a few times in the morning and outbound a few times in the afternoon

Jeweler at the mall

VSP Jewelers. I always go to them to get my watch fixed or infrequent jewelry repairs. Very conscientuous and they have some beautiful pieces.

Pointing the way

Sign at the intersection of Hwy 99 (Aurora Ave) and Hwy 104 that becomes Ballinger Way through Lake Forest Park. Near the local Costco. Characteristically wooded, hilly and a little dark

Lyon Creek near my house

I could have used this picture for Theme Day. Lyon Creek runs behind the back of my street behind my neighbor's house. It's a protected salmon spawning creek that empties into Lake Washington. This picture taken about a month ago in my neighborhood!

Theme Day - Water

April's theme is Water. What a great and easy theme for Lake Forest Park! "Lake", get it? Lake Forest Park borders on Lake Washington, a large lake (30 miles long, 4 miles wide). A short distance way is Puget Sound, part of the Pacific Ocean.

This shot taken last summer from the end of the dock at the Lake Forest Park Civic Club, looking into Lake Washington with the mountains in the distance. On a particularly clear day, you can see Mt. Rainier. Don't know anything about the boat.
